Is-School Bu-cool!

It's June once again! Time for kids to go back to school!!! Ay nako ever since I graduated, inggit na inggit ako sa mga students na meron pa ring summer break. Actually bordering on inis because they can wake up late, do nothing and go out of town. So feel ko pag June, BWHAHAHA PANTAY NALANG ULIT TAYO!!.

But coming from the perspective of a former student (elementary to be specific), I really look forward to going back to school. That's because:

1. There's a certain independence when you are not in the presence of family (SERIOUS ANSWER?!)
2. New things to discover and learn (WEH?!?!)
3. New classmates and friends
4. New boy eye candies. CHAR. Grade school pa lang nagnilandi na o!
5. NEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!!

Ay nako! Yang #5 talaga ang pinaka favorite ko! Kebs na kung walang new uniform and school shoes every year basta kelangan bago ang school supplies. I guess because learning is more fun when you love the stuff you use. CHE!

At mind you, it was never healthy because it breeds inggit and superiority complex.

So anyway, remember the "uso" school supplies back when we were young? I listed some of those and tell me kung meron din kayong ganito...

1. Pencils

But other kids had special ones like Lisa Frank or Hello Kitty or Power Rangers. One time, my mom got me a Staeadtler. Ayoko kasi walang malanding design!!! Malay ko bang mas sosyal yun! But the dominance of wood pencils, was threatened with the coming of ...

Polypencil!

Shempre unahan ang mga bagets makakuha! Iba iba yung colors! May hot pink, lime yellow, acid green. etc. I remember mine was blue. But then di ko talaga masyado nagamit because the graphite can't be as sharp compared to mongol.

2. Crayons

And there are a lot of options in the market. But for kids, it should be crayola. But no di paawat ang ibang kids! Kelangan...

64!!! Sheth gusto ko to kasi may gold and silver!!!

ART SET!!! YAMAAAAAN!

3. Erasers

Ay nako erasers can come in any form! Nakakagulat! May normal rubber eraser, colored ones, may scented pa na mukhang gulaman! Pero ang uso talaga ay eto...

MAY ROLLER CLEANER!!!

And then may mga kikay girls with this type of eraser...

LIPSTICK!!! Nako bata pa lang kerengkeng na

4. Glue

So most kids preferred this...

May ganito din ata ako nung grade 2. Tapos natapon sa loob ng envelope. Yan ang nangyayari sa puro pa-cute lang.

5. Lunch Box

Eto rin can come in any form and design! The holy grail of lunch boxes that time was...

Coleman! (Actually not this one. Yung mejo rectangle but I can't seem to find a photo)

I had this when I was in grade 4 I think. In fair, di ko naman siya iniyakan. Basta bigla nalang akong binilhan. Probably because it's really effective in keeping your baon cold or warm.

Pakabigat! Gudlak.

6. When I was in Grade 4, things became a little techie. Suddenly we had computer classes. In fair sa Ateneo nun, we had Apple Macintosh which I did not appreciate back then because ang layo ng Mac sa windows at nanonosebleed ako. And so naging requirement ang...

DISKETTE!!

Kumusta naman??? ANCIENT!!! Shempre pabonggahan ng color! Mine was like this, transparent! Sosyaaal! But knowing how reliable a floppy disk was, I kept 3 back-ups.

7. Stationery

Eto for girls lang. Pero shempre nakikijoin ako! Charot. Well pagandahan ng design and scent. Tapos trade trade pa. I remember buying a pack in the bookstore and then leave some at home para "limited edition" ang peg pagdating sa school. Mukhang higher value so pag-aagawan makipag barter ng mga lukaret.

Finally, eto talaga ang tunay na pabonggahan...

7. Pencil case!!

Nako ang pencil case noon ay parang Pokemon in a sense na " Look, here's what my pencil case can do".

1. May mga pindot pindot tapos lalabas yang kung ano-ano like sharpener, compartments, erasers etc.
2. May back to back na with a tray for your pencils.
3. May parang second floor na extra tray
4. May mga built-in rulers, multiplication tables etc.
5. May built-in games na parang pachinko balls!

Mine was a simple tin case lang. I did not like the complicated ones kasi mabigat and bulky.

Baka kasi techie na sila Or mga make-up, nail art and highlights na. Chuice!

So what were your school supplies back then???

[Flisht] Pagkaing Bata

When I was young, I would consider myself "laman ng sari-sari store". Everyday I would drop by the one 2 houses away from ours to check out the latest candy or chichirya available.

I remember one time when I had no yaya and my parents had to leave so they left me in that sari-sari store for the whole day. It felt like heaven on earth! (OA) Kuha lang nang kuha so my mom ended up paying for a lot of junk food. What is masiba! So yeah, I really love eating. I think I am orally fixated (AY BASTOS! Chuice.) but I never grew fat because for obvious reasons, all I ate was junk.

I listed down several of those candies and chichirya I loved. I guess you are familiar with some of them too...

1.
Can I just say ang jeje ng swits? I used to eat this a lot and fooled myself that I'm healthy because I eat orange all the time. It's funny that this is kinda difficult to find in the supermarkets but you can buy them easily in bus stations. Hoarding much???

2.
Ay favorite ko to! My mouth has room for 5 of these. I think my mouth is really big.

Open wiiiiiiiiiiide!

Of course, I think we all like this gum because of...

May ala Madame Auring pa na fortune!

3.
Don't they look adorable??? I used to think each color was a different flavor. And I eat the icing only. I throw the cookie part away. Or feed them to the dogs

4.
Isa pa toh. Akala ko iba-ibang flavor. Kunyari favorite ko pa yung pink kasi strawberry. Ay Confeeeeermed!

5.
My mom banned Whistle Joy at home because it was such a noisy candy! I thought it was the most ingenious candy ever invented. It looked cute blowing it before apparently mukha ka nang engot kung malaki ka na! See?

6.
I used to buy packs of this. Masarap kung sinisip-sip with a straw. Weird kung dissolved in water.

7.
This sugar coated peanut candy usually came with a free gold ring! Sosyaaaaal! Then I would put foil on top para parang diamond ring! Maarte lang.

8.
This tastes good pero MABAHO!!! Smelled like jebs especially the mexican cheese flavor. Pweh!

9.
ItalicIt's funny that you have to suck it out. Some kids even use their teeth to pull the chocolate paste up. Tapos in the middle of enjoying it may lalapit na friend, "pwede pahingi??" HELLO OK KA LANG?!?!?!Italic
I think most of them are still available until now. One of these days, I will buy them all and be a kid again.

Bawal humingi. bleeeeeeh! Childish? Or magpapa-kiddie party ako at eto ang laman ng loot bag! Chyeh!

How My Life was Shaped by a Kids' Song

Balloons are fun toys. When I gave my nephew 2 balloons this morning, his face lit up in gladness and he got all giddy hugging and tossing it into the air.

When we were young we were all taught how to sing this rather popular pinoy song "Ako ay may Lobo". If you can't remember check the clip.

Note: please teach me how to adjust this screen. It really looks bad lay-out wise

I really really think this is a very sad song. For one, he lost his lobo. And then, he found out that it popped. To add insult to injury, the song emphasized that he could have gotten food instead!!! Grabe naman, it paints R-E-G-R-E-T all over! Not to mention depression and despair. Harsh for kids!!!

I honestly believe that this song had a huge effect on how I handle money. Aside from the fact that I'm kuripot, I really make sure that my money is always well spent. I don't want to have regrets just like that kid who chose to buy a balloon than some food. Hence when I am about make a purchase, I contemplate on it real hard before I hand my cash over. hahah

To be careful with spending is of course a good trait. But to put too much prime on money is bad as well. Yes the best things in life are those that can't be bought. But there are still things that are of great value that you won't get if you won't spend for them. Kaya nga may kasabihang "spend wisely"

And speaking of lobo

Chuice! Noah na ang uso ngayon!

Have a great weekend everyone! Spend wisely!

No More Purple Dinosaur!!!

Piracy is so rampant in the Philippines, I really think its impossible to stop it. No matter how many raids they do, stalls selling pirated goods will always sprout like mushrooms.

One of the most pirated items would be DVD's. From movies to TV series to porn you will surely find them at least 5 kilometers away from where you are right now.

We do have some pirated DVD's at home too including my nephew's kiddie shows. One of them is Barney.

I love you, you love me! Cheka!

Looks harmless noh? And according to the label its recent. 2010 daw eh! Flipping the case you see all the episodes inside the cd.

24-in-1!!! Handamiiii!

The quality was good! Clear, crisp audio and video. In fairness, sulit! But wait!!! When I looked closely at the images, I discovered something strange bordering on freaky.

Ok so sa normal muna tayo

And then, I no longer get what Barney wants to say

Or do
Marvellous manners for Halloween? Ano daw? Wrong spelling pa!

Or go
Is it our space or outer space? Either way WAVES TO BARNEY!!! WAVES!!!

or who Barney is really
BARNE??? Paka slang naman!

and then it becomes freakier...

WTH is a kinky nurse doing with Barney??? And it says MAKE BELIEVE!

Also, who the hell is this woman???

Last and the worst

MONSTER BARNEY!!!! For sure ayoko makipag ready, set and play!!!

WOW LANG. What were those pirates thinking? Now I'm afraid to watch Barney shows. Baka kung ano pang makita ko noh!

So guys, let's boycott pirated items ok? Torrent nalang. Chuice:P
