Is-School Bu-cool!

It's June once again! Time for kids to go back to school!!! Ay nako ever since I graduated, inggit na inggit ako sa mga students na meron pa ring summer break. Actually bordering on inis because they can wake up late, do nothing and go out of town. So feel ko pag June, BWHAHAHA PANTAY NALANG ULIT TAYO!!.

But coming from the perspective of a former student (elementary to be specific), I really look forward to going back to school. That's because:

1. There's a certain independence when you are not in the presence of family (SERIOUS ANSWER?!)
2. New things to discover and learn (WEH?!?!)
3. New classmates and friends
4. New boy eye candies. CHAR. Grade school pa lang nagnilandi na o!
5. NEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!!

Ay nako! Yang #5 talaga ang pinaka favorite ko! Kebs na kung walang new uniform and school shoes every year basta kelangan bago ang school supplies. I guess because learning is more fun when you love the stuff you use. CHE!

At mind you, it was never healthy because it breeds inggit and superiority complex.

So anyway, remember the "uso" school supplies back when we were young? I listed some of those and tell me kung meron din kayong ganito...

1. Pencils

But other kids had special ones like Lisa Frank or Hello Kitty or Power Rangers. One time, my mom got me a Staeadtler. Ayoko kasi walang malanding design!!! Malay ko bang mas sosyal yun! But the dominance of wood pencils, was threatened with the coming of ...

Polypencil!

Shempre unahan ang mga bagets makakuha! Iba iba yung colors! May hot pink, lime yellow, acid green. etc. I remember mine was blue. But then di ko talaga masyado nagamit because the graphite can't be as sharp compared to mongol.

2. Crayons

And there are a lot of options in the market. But for kids, it should be crayola. But no di paawat ang ibang kids! Kelangan...

64!!! Sheth gusto ko to kasi may gold and silver!!!

ART SET!!! YAMAAAAAN!

3. Erasers

Ay nako erasers can come in any form! Nakakagulat! May normal rubber eraser, colored ones, may scented pa na mukhang gulaman! Pero ang uso talaga ay eto...

MAY ROLLER CLEANER!!!

And then may mga kikay girls with this type of eraser...

LIPSTICK!!! Nako bata pa lang kerengkeng na

4. Glue

So most kids preferred this...

May ganito din ata ako nung grade 2. Tapos natapon sa loob ng envelope. Yan ang nangyayari sa puro pa-cute lang.

5. Lunch Box

Eto rin can come in any form and design! The holy grail of lunch boxes that time was...

Coleman! (Actually not this one. Yung mejo rectangle but I can't seem to find a photo)

I had this when I was in grade 4 I think. In fair, di ko naman siya iniyakan. Basta bigla nalang akong binilhan. Probably because it's really effective in keeping your baon cold or warm.

Pakabigat! Gudlak.

6. When I was in Grade 4, things became a little techie. Suddenly we had computer classes. In fair sa Ateneo nun, we had Apple Macintosh which I did not appreciate back then because ang layo ng Mac sa windows at nanonosebleed ako. And so naging requirement ang...

DISKETTE!!

Kumusta naman??? ANCIENT!!! Shempre pabonggahan ng color! Mine was like this, transparent! Sosyaaal! But knowing how reliable a floppy disk was, I kept 3 back-ups.

7. Stationery

Eto for girls lang. Pero shempre nakikijoin ako! Charot. Well pagandahan ng design and scent. Tapos trade trade pa. I remember buying a pack in the bookstore and then leave some at home para "limited edition" ang peg pagdating sa school. Mukhang higher value so pag-aagawan makipag barter ng mga lukaret.

Finally, eto talaga ang tunay na pabonggahan...

7. Pencil case!!

Nako ang pencil case noon ay parang Pokemon in a sense na " Look, here's what my pencil case can do".

1. May mga pindot pindot tapos lalabas yang kung ano-ano like sharpener, compartments, erasers etc.
2. May back to back na with a tray for your pencils.
3. May parang second floor na extra tray
4. May mga built-in rulers, multiplication tables etc.
5. May built-in games na parang pachinko balls!

Mine was a simple tin case lang. I did not like the complicated ones kasi mabigat and bulky.

Baka kasi techie na sila Or mga make-up, nail art and highlights na. Chuice!

So what were your school supplies back then???
