That was what I wrote in my kindergarten yearbook. I think because I was fascinated with airplanes and the ability to fly. Well, I think the fascination still remains but now, I think I WANT a pilot instead. bwahah especially someone like this...

ANYWAY. What I really wanted to share was something about the ADMU-NU Game last Saturday. ANLAYOOOOOO!

I met up with some dorm friends I haven't seen for quite some time, Mark Eds, Peps and Grace, to watch the game at Araneta. Yeah we won, which is not really that interesting. But in front of us was a little boy about 5-years old

I though he was just a normal Eman Monfort fan who decided to tag along with mommy and daddy. But no, looks like he was up to watch and follow his idols, the Blue Babble Batallion! Watch this...

O diba? I did not get to finish the whole routine because I had no more free space on my phone. WALEY!

Anyway, that game was kinda weird. I know that Ateneo has a huge fan base but I did not expect to see something like this.

On other news, I went to attend the First Death Anniversary of Cory Aquino today at La Salle Greenhills.

But feel ko nabugbog ako so I guess I'll just blog about it tomorrow!

Smelling Dreams to Reality!

If you guys still don't know, I graduated with degrees in Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering. (woooooooh bagyong Milenyo!). I honestly still can't figure out how I managed to complete the five-year program but thank God, I did with an honorable mention and a program award in tow ( wooooooh bagyong Reming!)

The field of chemistry that I am really interested in pursuing is perfumery. Having been raised by parents who are in the cut-flower business, I have been exposed to all sorts of orchids and ornamental plants. I remember one time I tried boiling dendrobiums just to extract its scent. Shempre it got all messed up and I ended scorching the kaserola. Sinturon tuloy ang inabot ko!

I really am determined to explore this field so I am constantly looking for opportunities for further studies in France. I found great ones which are expensive as well. Not unless someone can give me 2 million pesos then by all means GOW!

One day I chanced upon a perfume making class offered in Makati so I gladly signed up for a class last Saturday. The place is called Chemworld Perfume Factory which specializes in distribution of essential oils and pre mixed perfumes for small businesses.

I felt so kilig seeing the stuff they sold. Amber bottles of various scents were all around calling me (Katakot!)

I really found them lovely!

We were led into the training room and these greeted me on the table

Namiss ko naman daw kayo! Dati sukang-suka ako seeing you everyday! Chuice!

The lecture was short and very "googleable" We then did hands-on activities where we simply diluted the premix in various solvents. They gave me their version of Chopard Pour Homme Halo halo lang and then tadaaa! Perfume na!

Pa-epek lang yung blue color. Nag-inarte kasi!

Most of the discussion revolved around how a perfume business could make you rich. They taught us how to do pricing, sales strategies and told success stories. Honestly, I did not listen much. I wasn't interested in selling knock-offs (Ehem!).

What I wanted to discover was how to mix essential oils to make my own perfume.In short, I did not get what I actually wanted to learn. But at least, I now have a place where I can get raw materials for my little experiments at home. :)

Sidekwento: I got an email last month from a man named Nicolas de Barry. He offered to personally train me in his very own Chateau de Frileuse in France!

At first it looked dubious. My friends said baka pedo or human trafficker! hahaha pakasama. But look, he is apparently one of the top perfumers in Europe!!!

I felt honored having been invited by such a notable person in the perfume industry. Of course it came with a fee. Unlike the 2 year course worth 2M pesos, his 3-week program in France followed by distance learning sessions for a year would cost a little less than Php 300,000.00

Still pricey though but I seriously hope someone could sponsor me! Barya lang yan ng mga billionaires noh! Any takers? haha or if you could give me a lead to where I can get scholarship, I will forever be grateful!

Here's to making fragrant dreams happen!

A Love Affair with My Nose

If there's one thing I am sure I wasn't blessed enough, that would be my NOSE. Its large, wide and very pango. I think when God showered good noses to all mankind, I was still alseep hence what I got was one of the rejects. HAHA

Yes. Pinoy. Walang duda

Yet honestly, I never got intimidated by it. For all I care, its just a nose. And I know that whatever God gave me suits me perfectly. Its just interesting that I base my judgments on one's nose- whether its perfect, cute, or quirky. So if you are my kerreh, chances are you have a very distinct nose haha

Kidding aside, I really love my nose. And here are top 3 reasons why:

1. I am an olfactory person. Some people remember things through touch, or what they see or hear. Me? Through smell. Smelling something brings a huge nostalgia. It always triggers my memory to the day when I first smelled a thing or to things I was accustomed to. And im talking about very specific smells. Bring me back to my dorm and show me all the places I've spent much time in and I will probably remember a little. But let me smell those ripe acacia pods and it will bring back scenes and even emotions of the past.

2. I can tell scents and smells. I believe that my nose is sensitive to tell one from another. I could also smell traces and could identify what that is. I dunno if you guys were able to watch Perfume: Story of a Murderer where a guy could smell even the faintest ones far far away. OA! Di naman ganung level. Slight lang. Like smelling traces of lychee in a room spray and true enough, its one of the many layers and components.

3. I perhaps found my passion in my nose. I am a chemistry graduate and for years the only reason I give on why I chose that course was that I came from Pisay and I have to take a science degree. It was only recently that I realized why I wanted chemistry- and that's because I wanted to be a perfumer. Yes, I envision myself going to France and exposing my nose to discover all the beautiful scents, mixing them to create divine smells!

And so I have committed myself to pursuing my dreams of studying and becoming a perfumer. I've been reading quite a lot, inquiring in various schools and considering my options here and abroad. And from time to time, Ill keep you updated regarding this life project :)
