2013 Elections: Chuice-ing Wisely

It's election season once again! And you know naman dahil May ang schedule, feeling ng mga tao piyesta!!! Every now and then we hear the candidates' jingles on TV. Not only that, rinig mo pa sila sa mga owner type at multicab na paikot-ikot sa kalye!  

I'm just so happy about the new Comelec rule prohibiting campaign materials on electric posts. Swerte walang kaagaw at buhay ang "business" nila...

Side note: tubero: cleaning your pipes? Electrician: kuryente sensation? Karpitero: ipapako ka? Siphoning: OH ME AND MY VERY CLEAN MIND.

Henewey, I know most of you have started researching about the candidates for the senatorial and local government race. We hear a lot about these persons' achievements, promises, issues and even scandals. We hear a lot about the people they were able to help too (tulad ni ate sa probinsya na natulungan na ni Migs ZuBERRY!) 

But sometimes it's really hard to choose based on platforms and credentials alone. Sometimes, we don't really know what we want from our public servants, what we are more sure of are things we don't want from them. Hashtag sumeserious. 

So let's do a little public service here and allow our favorite Disney Princesses to remind you of traits we have to watch out for when choosing the next set of leaders for our country.

Oh well, 4 months into the year, April 1 to be specific, nagbunga na ata ang mga pa-novena ko. It was a normal Monday- though I was kinda sluggish coming from Holy Week and my throat was kinda itching (normal pala ha). Then I remembered "Ay April Fools pala today! Ano kayang magandang paeksena?" I'm not the type who would stage a prank online. Masaydong pa statement.

Then I had a Safeguard moment "Hoy Koi lunes na lunes at kakatapos lang ng long weekend! Magtrabaho ka!!!" So without exerting effort, I just tweeted whatever came to mind.

"ANG GANDA MO! Happy April Fools' Day"

Walang ka-arrive arrive! A little later my phone beeped. Apparently mukhang may natuwa at nag retweet. Si gandang Aika. Hey tehz!

Best in ignore lang ako as I went into my work mode. Minutes later I got another notification...

At 5 and Up pa lang beki na pala ako. Chuice! I have seen him in person quite a number of times already. Pero events, etc.  One day several years back an ABSCBN reporter was to arrive in the office for an interview. Kebs lang ako until I realized it was Atom who was sitting on the sofa right across my desk. Ang hirap mag pa demure smile! At ang hirap mag pormal pormalan when in fact eto ang gusto mong gawin

I ended up not talking at all. Kunyari busy busyhan nalang until he left.

So anyway you can just imagine my reaction after seeing that tweet. Ewan ko parang gusto ko nalang agad mag traje de boda!!!! But as usual I kept my composure...in the twitter world.

Bilang eto ang naging reaction ko over text message with Aika

Oh well. I replied to his tweet. And that was it. I realized I wasn't following him around on twitter I did.

Days later we were exchanging direct messages. Then he gave me his number so we could text each other 24/7. Every now and then he would give me a call to ask if I had taken my lunch or dinner. Tomorrow, I'll see him

In my dreams.

ILUSYONADAAAA!!! Siya baboo na! Baka sa kakailusyon ko nagkatotoo pa. TAKOT NIYO LANG. Chuice!

Anyhow, after a looooooooong time, I'm back. I must admit I lost the blogging mojo- feeling that I really got tired of looking for funny things in life. Been busy with my new project as well- the Oscar Mejia Artisan Fragrances. (Pwede ilike? Thanks!)

Oh well Direk Roel, I've listed a lot of things to do this year which include:

1. Grow the perfume business (bili na!)
2. Revive the blog (Hep! Heto na!)
3. Get back in shape

Yes. Sasaksakin niyo ako for calling myself fat. Pero heller, this was me circa (circa?!?) 2008...

Friends tell me "Uy nagkalaman ka!" But I was in denial. After all my clothes and pants still fit. My mom even said, "Ang taba mo! Mag gym kaya!". Aray ha- but I'm too kuripot to get a membership.

Until one day, the manang from my laundry shop exclaimed " HUY ANG TUMATABA KA!" In my mind "CLOSE TAYO???!?!?"

Then after work, I went to Aura Salon to get a haircut ( yes may nagugupit pa sa hair kong on Fall Season) and the assistant also said "BUMIBILOG KA!!!"

THAT'S EEEEEEEEEEEET!

When I got home, I changed into sweats and ran around the village! I ran until I got all sweaty. Tapos kumain ng...

Two weeks later and I was still enthusiastic about jogging. Apart from jogging around the village, my ever faithful, supportive and loyal friend Ping ( heeeey guuuurl!) and I would go to Moro to use the oval. That and mag piyesta over rice and...

CHUICE!

One day we were talking:

Ping: nagjojog ka sa Varsity diba? Ako rin dati!
Koi: Ay oo pero minsan ayoko mangarir kasi baka may aso.
Ping: Meron nga pero lahat naman sila nakatali or may bantay
Koi: Winner!!!!

Two weeks later following my route around Varsity Hills and jogging to the tune of Titanium ( lakaaaaas) I headed to the far end of Abada. Mejo madilim pero kebs.

3 meters ahead may aso.

Stop naman ako sa pagtakbo

Then I remembered what Ping said: LAHAT NG ASO NAKATALI

So best in charge forward ako. Because I am titanium!!!!

Eh titanium din yung aso?!?!? So best in habol sa akin!!!!

P******NA!!!!!!!!!!!!

The following wee my concerns at that time in order of priority:

1. Ping sabi mo lahat ng aso nakatali!!!!
2. Naka shorts ako wala siyang lalapain kundi legs ko!!
3. Omayged ASKAL!!! Kung makagat naman ako sana may breed! Or eto

Sige gow! Habulin niyo ako at tatakbo akong papalapit!

4. Rabis!!!

So how did I survive the attack of the Askal? Take note of this in case of emergency.

1. Shout!!! I shouted, cursed, called on Jesus and Mama Mary in one breath. Sorry!

But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.' Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.

Ok ginawa ko to while running palayo. WITH MY HEAD FACED BACK. Mukhang engot but I had to check whether maabutan niya ako diba!

So there, the dog felt he's more titanium than me so he stopped chasing my poor beauty.

I went home straight after. Lupaypay, pawisan and all. In fair marami-raming calories din ang naburn dun!

Star Awards: TRENDING na!

To get an idea of what's trending in fashion, people refer to dresses during publicized social events like balls and awards nights. You know something is uso when almost everyone is wearing the same style, parang costume sa sabayang pagbigkas. For others, keri nila but for some, parang gusto ko tanungin na "teh, costume? San ang shooting?"

Then there are the outliers. These are people who wear out-of-this-world dresses in an attempt to set a trend. In fair sa iba, they are successful enough that everyone will be carrying the style in the next event. For some, wish mo nalang na malipat sila out of this world. Chuice!

Just recently PMPC held the 25th Star Awards for television. Shempre pabonggahan na namanng outFET ang ating mga local celebrities.

Simple cut dress in plain black matched with earrings that are not to0 showy as well. Pero dinaan sa sequins ang pangangabog! Para siyang night sky na maraming stars. Or baso ng Coke na maraming bula... so refreshing. CHAROT

Gretchen Barretto

Meanwhile La Greta looked regal in her purple (?) dress na parang may kapa. This goes to show that all you need is the right cut and fit. No need for too much detail. I think only Gretchen can pull this off. Kung iba, pwedeng:

Live Curious!

I have always been inspired by the "Live Curious" Campaign of National Geographic. It's simple, catchy and meaningful. In fact even the shirts can make you curious...

Can I keep asking the guy "Sino ka? Sino ka? Sino ka? Sino ka? " CHUICE!

Kidding aside, the campaign appealed to me because ever since I was child, I was taught to always ask questions and keep wondering. I remember my Dad giving me an old book filled with various questions. Things like "Why is the sky blue?" or "Why do ants "kiss" each other?". O diba bongga?? Tapos sa last page may question na "Are you gay?" CHAROT LANG.

So from time to time, I just find myself asking questions-even the weirdest ones. In fact, I shared some of them in my previous post. Wag mahuli sa balita! Click HERE!

Basically, this post is just part 2 of the previous. Sus daming sat-sat yun lang pala! Here are more questions that will hopefully keep you asking as well.
