MAJOR ba kamo?

Ok so most of you know the results and the happenings in today's Ms. Universe pageant. And while I have to catch the replay on Velvet at 10 PM tonight to get a better experience (I watched via livestreaming this morning with Spanish commentators in the background) allow me to say a few words. Meganon?

Oh well, we are all aware of the fate of our very own Venus Raj. Now everyone is catching on the "MAJOR MAJOR" trend going on.

She came in as a very strong contender in the contest. And I must admit there is a certain panghihinayang because I believe that she is an intelligent woman hence she could have done a better job in answering the question.

1. It was a huge crowd
2. I believe she was under some huge pressure to excel

When Venezuela was crowned last year she wore this very valuable crown


Before I thought the crowns they give are those made from the pwet ng baso just like in your Ms Talipapa. Later did I realize the crown is made up of real diamonds and it costs over a hundred thousand dollars. The real crown gets passed on while a replica is left with the former queen.

Ms. Spain's gown is classic and very elegant. Very spanish feel actually. The gray-olive color isn't a favorite but she carried it well. The white lace looks dainty too.

Of course, Ms. Philippines! I'm not really a fan of the dress but look at how she carried it! F-I-E-R-C-E!!! Surprisingly the bright orange suited her complexion quite well!

Ms. Aruba. ANO YAN? Kulang kayo sa tela teh? Half long gown lang yan ah! In fairness, from behind its an evening gown. From the front, its "I'm partying till midnight!" look haha

Isa ka pa! Why is there a shortage of fabric in this pageant??? Eh kung gupitin ko yang silver chain mo? Ay ang manyak nun!

You may have known that the Philippines held the title of Ms. Universe only twice. First was in 1969 when the crown was brought home by Gloria Diaz

Wow she was actually labeled as the Onassis of the Philippines. Shushal!

Since 1963 we had a long drought of Ms. Universe winners. We were close to winning when Miriam Quiambao cinched 1st runner up in 1999. We'll she may have been noticed because of her gracious fall. Papansin ka teh? Joke lang!

I can't exactly tell what the dress looks like but notice how it hugs her shapely form perfectly. Ay ang manyak ata nun! Well, the I love the red shade which complemented her blond locks. She looked regal in the drop earrings too.

Ms. Trinidad and Tobago

I love how black was homogeneously (nosebleed...) mixed with gold. The fabric also made the dress dreamy and dramatic. She looks like a modern Cleopatra if not for her hair na parang dinilaan ng kalabaw. Chuice!

MISSES!!

Ms. Romania

I do not get the squares on her boobs, her ornate belt and that weird cut of the dress. And what is that??? Are you hiding a leopard inside??? haha

Ms. Singapore

The fuschia looks kinda cheap, not to mention the peek-a-boo. And is it just me or mukha siyang bading? Ay, and the pose, parang "Good mawnin kohya! Had fun last night?"

Ms. Switzerland

FULL LACE TALAGA??? Excuse me but she looks like a poon. Please. My lola wore the same thing when she was Hermana of the Santa Cruzan. Minus the slit. (Sana lang!)

You are right! If most guys wait eagerly for NBA finals, most pa-girls become ecstatic during Ms. Universe. It's like the Olympics of all beauty contests where the most beautiful, talented and smart (weh? di nga?) gather and vie for the title and the crown

Ay? May galit? Uyyy can't let go!

This year it will be on August 24 (Manila time) in Las Vegas. Just recently, they released the official pictures of the candidates in their long gown and boy it was a field day for me! BWAHAHAHA.

If you still don't know, I have posts where the main objective is to give reactions, criticisms, comments, fine...lait to what people are wearing. I'm not saying I am an expert fashion police. They are simply based on my taste and preference. Defensive???

Oh well, in the said set of pictures I have a total of 40 comments. 8 hits, 12 misses and yes, 20 FACE-OFFS hahah ALAM NA. But since it would be too tiresome to post everything in one go, I decided to slice the set into 4 parts. So in the next few days, be sure to watch out for them!

Ms. Albania

I love how simple and at the same time complicated the dress is. Simple in terms of cut and color. The complexity comes in the intricate details which include layering of fabrics and the beadwork. She carried the gown well too :)

Ms. India

Unlike Albania which featured a very exquisite beadwork, India displayed less detail yet more sophistication. Main highlight is the draping which is difficult to achieve. But check out the beadwork on her left shoulder. Ganda lang! Binawi din niya sa headpiece which made her look like a grecian goddess (wrong country!)but nevertheless the outfit looked well put together. The color suited her skin tone too.

Of course, kahit sa Ms. Universe, we have misses. Lets begin...

Ms. Denmark

The dress looks ok pero teh, WHAT ARE THOSE HIDEOUS THINGS ON YOUR FEET? Sino bang pumili ng shoes mo at bakit black? hmm if i know, you borrowed it from...
