Remembering EDSA

Today we remember EDSA I. And while it's sad to note that most people don't get the significance and even recall what happened 25 year ago, I hope that we all feel thankful that it took place.

Had I been born earlier, I'm sure I would have been on the streets in 1986 too. There's nothing more rewarding than being socially involved no matter how small your contribution is.

Last Wednesday concerned citizens of our country organized a simple candle lighting ceremony along Katipunan to remember and celebrate the gifts of EDSA: truth, justice, freedom and peace.

I saw fellow student leaders...

The Black Dynasty (choz). Three generations of COA Presidents.

Motorists were encouraged to make busina (arte?) to show support. A short prayer and reflection was held after. Then came the representatives from San Marino Corned Tuna. CHUICE LANG.

I knew people were gigil to have a picture taken with them at hindi na sila nagpatalo at nauna na...

Dahil minsan lang sila makakita ng babaeng walang belo. CHUICE!

In fairness to Ate Julie, her cousin and Ms. Tonette, as they left the event, they bumped into another artista fresh from a shoot along katipunan overpass!

After that we went to NBC tent to meet Geo-anne. Had dinner at Kirin in High Street. Ang sosyal ng place so bilang mga pureza, we prepared ourselves to check the menu. Kapag mahal aacting si Geo ng "Ok we wanna try something else!" But in fair, food was ok and the price was not steep considering the location.

Fierce customer. Ganito mag-order kapag walang pera, dinadaan sa confidence!

In fairness naman we ordered a lot. Fred arrived a little later at mejo konti nalang yung food so we had to order one more dish and rice.

Funny because the wait staff removed all the empty plates

Geo: Hala kinuha ng waiter ang mga plato mukha tuloy tayong poor na na naghati-hati lang sa isang kanin at ulam!
Tim: Nako Geo ilabas ang iPad dali! Tapos dun ka kumain!
Everyone (mejo pasigaw): Grabe ang dami naming inorder kanina ah!! Second round na to by the way!!!

This 2011...

2011 ushers in not only a new year but also a new decade. The common practice is to set up new year's resolutions to make a better person out of oneself and hopefully out of other people. This is a good practice in order to work your way towards finding true success through personal development (Find out more about that from OneCORE). Syempre nagpromote!

A healthy practice involves choosing only 2 or 3 to make sure that you have time to really exhaust your efforts and energy into fulfilling your set goals. It allows you to become focused on them as well.

I must admit the year has started with me still having a long list. I believe that as I spend more time reflecting on these commitments, I would be able to perhaps combine them or prioritize the most important ones for this year and save the rest for the years to come.

Staying true to the theme of this blog, I shall be using funny photos from everywhere

1. Go GREEN!- Time to be alarmed so always consider the welfare of Mother Earth

5. Be extra spontaneous and not to edit myself too much

6. Always pay my bills on time- Well they won't cut my phone line if I don't pay on time but it's bad practice

A Christmas Reflection (kaya mo?)

Christmas is indeed the most wonderful time of the year. We enjoy an avalanche of food, exciting gifts and wonderful company! And as the festivities end, we all go back home with peace and gratefulness in our hearts for the true miracle that is Christmas.

I'd like to thank my great friend, Maan Tan for sharing this wonderful video about miracles and how we could all make miracles happen for each other.

And as we celebrate miracles for other people, it is my wish that we become miracles to our selves too!

Ok. Dahil hindi ko kayang sobrang serious. Always remember...

Hero Makeover!

One day my niece showed me a trick. I said "cool" and her reply was "Cool is for old people. It's AWESOME!!" Congratulations Koi, you are now considered an oldie!

Indeed, times have changed. That was reaffirmed when creators started giving some popular kiddie characters a makeover. Eto kasi pauso...

Girl, wag kang malandi, plezzz! Chuice!

Much to my surprise that even our beloved superheroes are being given the restyling and revamping that they allegedly need.

Sad to break it to you guys...

CHE! BRAT!

Oh well from an article I saw in Yahoo, "Superman has a new look... While the iconic superhero retains his dark mane and defined six pack, he now has a decidedly more emo vibe -- pale, leaner, and brooding."

"The new Man of Steel "wears hoodies" and "has smoldering eyes"; and as Clark Kent, he wears low-cut pants and skinny ties."

Meanwhile, Wonderwoman outfit is now "made up of a red top with the signature "WW" logo; a cropped blue biker jacket with white stars; and skin-tight navy blue pants and matching boots."

Bakit mukha siyang adik?!?! Seriously, he looks like a villain more than the hero. And what's with the eyes? Parang yung laruang dog na umiilaw yung mata sa Greenhills!! Meanwhile...

Well, as they say, looks don't actually matter. As long as their actions are for a good cause then they are still heroes. In fact, one need not save the world or die for something to be considered a hero. I remember what my boss and mentor, Coach Pia Acevedo always told us that everyone is born a hero.
