Kung ano ang puno, siyang bunga

Ever wondered where this wackiness of mine came from? Well I guess you will find out now...

My mom spent a few days with us just recently. Coming from Palawan, she decided to do a side-trip to Manila for a visit. The following are some of our conversations...

Conversation 1: On our new house help from Antique

Me: Mommy, turuan mo nga si Alma mag-asin
Mom: Bakit?
Me: Tikman mo yung luto niya dali
*Mom takes a spoonful of Beef Nilaga soup
Mom: Oo nga matabang
Me and Mom (in unison while looking straight to each other's eyes):

BAKA ASWANG!!! ( Joke lang ah!)

Conversation 2: On Birth Certificate

Mom: Nako diba dati may problema yung birth certificate ko?
Me: Anong nangyari?
Mom: Ang alam ko talaga yung full name na binigay ng Inay is Lilia Crispina. Nung binasa ng NSO sabi nila Lilia Anastacia. Ang Pangeeet!
Me: Wag ka Russian Princess kaya si Anastasia
Mom: Ay talaga??? Sige yun nalang!

Bagay ba??? Ambisyosa!

Conversation 3: After watching Ateneo vs LaSalle in Araneta

Mom: Grabe ang galing talaga nung #12 lumulusot sa ilalim!
Koi: Sino ba kasi yung 12???
Mom: Yung amerkano!

HOOMAYYGAAAD!!!

Me (in my head): Dear Lord, ayoko na kami ni mommy ay maging

Chuice!

Speaking of rampa...

Prepare to SLEEP forever...

BATTLE OF FANTASY LAND, coming soon!

How My Life was Shaped by a Kids' Song

Balloons are fun toys. When I gave my nephew 2 balloons this morning, his face lit up in gladness and he got all giddy hugging and tossing it into the air.

When we were young we were all taught how to sing this rather popular pinoy song "Ako ay may Lobo". If you can't remember check the clip.

Note: please teach me how to adjust this screen. It really looks bad lay-out wise

I really really think this is a very sad song. For one, he lost his lobo. And then, he found out that it popped. To add insult to injury, the song emphasized that he could have gotten food instead!!! Grabe naman, it paints R-E-G-R-E-T all over! Not to mention depression and despair. Harsh for kids!!!

I honestly believe that this song had a huge effect on how I handle money. Aside from the fact that I'm kuripot, I really make sure that my money is always well spent. I don't want to have regrets just like that kid who chose to buy a balloon than some food. Hence when I am about make a purchase, I contemplate on it real hard before I hand my cash over. hahah

To be careful with spending is of course a good trait. But to put too much prime on money is bad as well. Yes the best things in life are those that can't be bought. But there are still things that are of great value that you won't get if you won't spend for them. Kaya nga may kasabihang "spend wisely"

And speaking of lobo

Chuice! Noah na ang uso ngayon!

Have a great weekend everyone! Spend wisely!

TEA-nfairness (HEH!)

In the Philippines, you only drink tea if your either an english expat or an old man.

Ok not really. OA Lang. But there are only quite a handful people I know who are into tea. In fact, when I go to coffee shops, most people take coffee and not tea.

I only started getting the hang of drinking tea when I was 3rd year college. Back then I realized that it was more effective in keeping me awake and its lighter in the tummy. I've tried a lot of leaves and bags already. From the common English breakfast and mint to a more exquisite jasmine and ginger-lemon to a really weird Benguet herb tea. In fair masarap yun.

Each new flavor is an experience that appeals to all senses (pati touch?!) so now, I normally get tea whenever I hit Starbucks or any other coffee shop. Recently, I came across some cute stuff that would perhaps make any tea experience more exciting and fun.

It's a submarine tea ball! Cute noh? Just like me. Chuice. Basically you put the leaves inside and dip in a mug like a tea bag.

Speaking of mugs, here's something for the clumsy.

Ewan ko nalang kung mabitawan mo pa noh?

Sometimes when you pour in water, the handle of the tea bag falls into the cup. Hassle much. So here's an ingenious solution

Very political in nature. Wish there was a Pinoy Elections version. Or tipong Home Along the Riles Family. Pwede rin ang Gimik barkada haha

But this one is the cutest. Tired of the normal tea bag? Pwes!

Majirits ka sa kaladian

Its tea and origami combined. Very Japanese. But this product is made by Natalia Ponomareva- A Russian designer. Nyare?

So, even though Christmas is still 5 months away, you know what to get me. Thanks! Assumera?
